China launches project to assemble new helicopter

China Aerospace Industry Corporation (AFIC) has launched the AC332 multi-purpose helicopter assembly project for civilian use in north China's Tianjin Municipality.


According to the Chinese news agency, the AC332 is an advanced twin-engine helicopter with a weight of four tons.

The aircraft, equipped with a high-performance propeller, two high-powered engines and a highly integrated avionics system, was unveiled in December 2020.


According to the company, the aircraft can reach an altitude of 6000 meters and make a flight of 600 kilometers with a payload of 600 kilograms in areas with an altitude of 4,500 meters.


The aircraft, which can accommodate 10 passengers, can be used in various scenarios including emergency rescue, law enforcement, as well as high-altitude and offshore operations.


The AC332 is expected to make its maiden flight in 2022 and will be delivered by the end of 2024.
