Tomorrow, Friday, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia will announce the names of the official candidates for citizens and residents of the Kingdom to perform Hajj this year, and their numbers are estimated at 60,000 pilgrims, due to the continuation of the Corona virus pandemic for the second year in a row. Statistics issued by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah showed that the number of people registered in the electronic track to register domestic pilgrims has reached 558,270 pilgrims since the start of registration on the third of Dhul-Qa’dah until its closure yesterday evening.

The ministry stated that the percentage of males registered reached 59%, while the percentage of females was 41%, while the percentages of those registered, according to age groups, were as follows: less than 20 years, 3%, 21 to 30 years, 26%, and 31 to 40 years 38 From 41 to 50 years old, 20%, from 51 to 60 years old, 11%, and over 60 years old, 2%.

In a related context, Dr. Hani Jokhdar, Deputy Minister of Health of Saudi Arabia, revealed today the latest developments of the Corona virus in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, explaining that patients with chronic diseases and pregnant women cannot perform Hajj this year, because they are more vulnerable to infection with Corona during the Hajj season.

He said, that vaccines have been approved inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the authority responsible for licensing vaccines, and the vaccines that have been licensed inside the Kingdom are Pfizer and AstraZeneca. Other vaccines are evaluated.
