Tourism revitalization reviews Egypt's efforts with the President of the Spanish Tourism Authority


On the sidelines of the participation of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities represented by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion in the 41st edition of the International Exhibition for Tourism and Travel (Fetour), which is being held in the Spanish capital Madrid from 19 to 23 May, Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Authority, met with Mr. Miguel Sanz Castedo, Chairman of the Tourism Authority Spanish, in the presence of Ambassador Omar Selim, the Egyptian ambassador in Madrid, to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism and travel, and to restore the tourist movement coming to Egypt from Spain.

 

The Authority’s CEO also held a number of intense professional meetings with representatives of major tour operators, tourism and aviation companies and hotels in the Spanish market, including the CEAV-Tour Mundial (El Corte Inglés), TUI - Club 5 Estrellas- Dunas Travel, and others. For his part, the head of the authority reviewed during these meetings the most important developments in the tourism sector in Egypt, explaining the steps taken by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to mitigate the negative effects resulting from the Coronavirus crisis, and the facilities necessary for the vaccination process for all workers in the tourism sector that began last April with anti-virus vaccinations. He pointed out that the Egyptian government is establishing huge projects to boost the tourism momentum in Egypt according to long-term plans, especially as the ministry is working to create new tourism patterns that are in line with international concepts of the visions of developing tourism sustainability, and contribute to making the tourism sector more robust and resilient and responding to any crises that may occur accordingly. He added that the ministry is studying the organization of tourist convoys, introductory trips and various workshops in a number of markets exporting to tourism during the coming period, and an integrated action plan for tourism promotion is being prepared in cooperation with the private sector and tourism unions for the summer season of this year.

 

Majid Abu Sudira confirmed that the authority participated, on the sidelines of the exhibition, in a number of workshops organized by the World Tourism Organization, which focused on sustainable tourism, and the development of technological capabilities that help create new tourism products, in addition to the twelfth edition of the Tourism Investment Forum. And entrepreneurship (INVESTOUR) held by the World Tourism Organization, which focused on developing and developing ideas for strategic partnerships between the private and public sector in the field of tourism investment, in addition to launching a workshop under the name of FITUR Talent, which sheds light on the role that innovation plays in providing education, training and awareness Tourism, as well as a roundtable meeting on tourism and cinema between the organization and Netflix to assess the role that media and advertising films can play in promoting tourism sites and experience.

 

It is worth noting that the exhibition "Fitour" is held annually in January of each year, as it represents the first on the international agenda for tourism exhibitions, but the organizing committee of the exhibition IFEMA announced that its holding this year is exceptionally postponed to May 2021 due to the repercussions of the Coronavirus crisis.
